The Village at Griesbach is built on the site of a former Canadian Forces Base which was purchased by Canada Lands from the Department of National Defence (DND) in 2003.

The Heather Lands redevelopment is made possible by an historic joint venture between Canada Lands and a partnership of three First Nations: the Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation, and Tsleil-Waututh Nation (MST).

Canada Lands acquired this former military site in 2014 from the Department of National Defence (DND). The property includes a French immersion school.
