Downsview West

The Downsview West District, part of the id8 Downsview Lands is a 30 hectare (74 acre) property in the centre of the Greater Toronto Area and adjacent to the much-celebrated Downsview Park, as well as the Downsview East, and Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research Hub. 

Downsview West is an emerging neighbourhood located within the Downsview Area Secondary Plan which is bordered by Sheppard Avenue West to the west and north, the Barrie GO Train line to the east, and Carl Hall Road to the south. The City of Toronto is undertaking an update of its Secondary Plan through a process called, “Update Downsview” which will reflect the area’s changing context. 

The Update Downsview project was initiated by a joint planning application known as the id8 Downsview Framework Plan, submitted by Canada Lands Company and its neighbouring landowner partner, Northcrest Developments in October 2021. 

Canada Lands is now ready to proceed with the development of its first district which is a more detailed plan that will expand on the ambitions, objectives, and principles of the id8 Downsview Framework Plan, at a local scale. As planning and progress continues for the Downsview West site towards Plan approval from the City of Toronto, Canada Lands is eager to continue to maintain open communication with the local and surrounding community through a new Downsview West website currently in development and set to launch in the spring of 2024.
