December 10, 2015 - The City of Kingston (City) and the Government of Canada represented by Correctional Service Canada (CSC), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), and Canada Lands Company (Canada Lands), today announced an upcoming public visioning exercise that will serve as a first step towards developing a potential future vision for a group of neighbouring properties. Canada Lands has been asked by CSC and DFO to lead the visioning exercise along with the City of Kingston. The properties include:
- The former Kingston Penitentiary (owned by Correctional Service Canada)
- Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Marina (owned by Fisheries and Oceans)
- Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (owned by City of Kingston)
Working in partnership, the landowners want to provide the community an opportunity to voice its views and aspirations for the identified sites. The visioning exercise, which may include different types of activities, will take place in 2016; exact date(s) will be confirmed as soon as possible.
